Research Description
Characterization of metabolic perturbations on the performance of genetic circuits in yeast.
Characterization of cellular systems is required for understanding metabolic state and burden that cells endure. Competition for shared resources in genetic circuits can impair cellular functions and limits robustness of developing therapeutic and medicinally relevant synthetic biology tools. I utilize metabolomics analysis, with a focus on bioenergetics and central carbon metabolism.
Combinatorial assembly, screening and functional characterization of a recombinant glucaric acid pathway in S. cerevisiae.
I am optimizing the biosynthetic route to glucaric acid from glucose in S. cerevisiae by screening an intelligently designed set of synthesized constructs containing both a library of promoters and enzyme homologues.
